relies on numerous factors. When calculating the cost, it’s important to
rectify what the window film is intended to achieve – privacy,
solar heat rejection, or other. Tint prices vary depending on the properties

Each Solar Gard film is graded and rated by its performance
on a standard 3mm thick clear glass. The main performance indicators are
measured as a percentage and include Visible Light Transmittance, Visible Light
Reflectance (exterior), UV light blocked, and Total Solar Energy Rejected. The
window films are rated somewhere between:
- 5% - 89% for Visible Light Transmittance
(VLT)
- 5% - 61% for Visible Light Reflectance
(VLR) – exterior

to complete too.
Some other factors that influence window tint cost are
whether there is a safety risk or difficult manoeuvre required to get the job
done. For instances where the window is located up high – like a skylight, we
may need a specialised ladder or lift.
When predicting the final window tint cost, it’s not enough
to simply measure the window size and multiply by the cost per square metre. Window
films are supplied in set roll widths and cut to size, which inevitably means
there’s excess which isn’t used. For this reason, it’s recommended to round up your ball-park supply figure
by 10-15%.
